Remote for security gate not working

ORIGINAL POST

Recently bought a village house which has an area of protected parking with a security gate. The remote we were given worked erratically but has now permanently ceased activity.....how do we get a new "remote"?

Problems...the person who "owns" the gate has no idea of the type of controller and does not know where the mechanism came from (also there is a language problem!)

Is it possible to anlayze the broken remote to identify the frequency of the receiver or are there generic remotes? And where are the shops, outlets where one can buy the hardware? Any help or advice gratefully received.

Many thanks. I will give it a try....fascinating observation about the speakers because I would have presumed that transmitter and receiver would be tuned to fairly tight frequency bands and if what you say occurs throughout the differential spectrum then obviously something else is being picked up...what wave length is 'white noise'?

This may seem like a dumb question. But have you tried replacing the batteries.

Often the batteries supplied with new equipment here is not good.

Worst case i had was a doorbell that worked for a day.

Low batt would explain erratic performance inititially.

Yes i have put in new batteries twice and the red light comes on when the keys are pressed but there is no response from the the light on the gate...normally flashes yellow when receiving signal.
