Ho Chi Minh in May 2010!!

Heading to Ho Chi Minh in May 2010 for 3 nights...



A short getaway with friends.



Advices on places to check out, do/donts in town?!

Just try not to get run over!!

We went for New Year and the traffic is SO bad (I was there 14 years ago and don't remember it as busy)

But its great fun! Visit the Cu Chi tunnels, if you can (if you are interested in that sort of thing) but just enjoy the bars and restaurants .. and shopping!

I just got back. 3 nights stay around the city. Across from Rex Hotel is tax free mall. Buy stuff there. At the markets all the tourists go to the prices are sky high and quality poor. Food is fantastic there.


I found a cool Restuarant near my hotel in District 3. Its just off the street down an alley. Semd me a PM and I.ll email you a copy of the retsuarant business card.


Actually just walk around and its fun. My favorite thing to do at night was walk down the street from my hotel and sit with locals beside the ladies making mixed fruit juices. Just watch the city go by and some locals will talk to you. If you are only in District 1 you miss out on normal HCM life. Fruit juice was 10,000 vd. Thats super cheap compared to what you would pay at MIX here.


My first day I hired a scooter driver and he took me down to Mekong area and go on boat, went to nearby islands and had lunch and visited Coconut factory. 100km away from HCM so with a group, hire a car. 4 hours on a scooter and my behind was killing me.


Dont worry about traffic. Its controlled chaos. actually runs smooth.
