Can someone please help me out whats the best way of going from CWB to Shatin for work: I have figured out the 3 options below:

1. Train all the way from CWB, transfer in Kowloon Tong take KCR to Shatin

2. Train to TST walk to TST East, train to Hung Hom, from HUNg Hom KCR all the way to Shatin

3. Bus from CWB to Hung Hom, KCR Train all the way from Hung HOm to SHatin

I am leaning towards the 3rd option. Can someone tell me how long it takes for the bus ride from CWB to Hung Hom and is it really crowded in the morning?

Thanks for any advice!

Depends where you live in CWB.

I used to live in Wanchai, so when I got on the bus on Queens Rd East, it basically had one stop and then the next stop was after the tunnel at Hung Hom. So it was by far the fastest way to go to the NT.

I would also lean towards the 3rd option... but I would try to get on a tunnel bus just before it gets on the flyover. For example, there are tunnel buses that leave outside the er... that round hotel called South Pacific??? Where all the lighting shops are. You get on there, and it goes around the corner up the flyover.

If you have to travel through CWB then you're right, you could get stuck in traffic.

You want to pick a bus stop that has lots of tunnel buses stopping there, so you don't have to wait and you can just hop on the next available one. Loads of buses go to Hung Hom!

Just to add: it could take as little as 10 minutes to go through the tunnel, so if you caught the bus just before the flyover, then perhaps 15 minutes to Hung Hom on the bus...

City Bus #170 leaves Shatin KCR station and passes Lee Gardens on its way to Aberdeen. The return is a little different as it returns via Canal st, you would need to walk a short way after work.

It is a long journey about an hour+ in peak. Being stuck in the cross harbour tunnel adds time (feels like days) to your journey.

There's a Bus 182 from Causeway Bay going all the way to Shatin. The stop is just opposite Times Square near the market - sorry but I do not know the name of the street. And the other option is to take any bus that goes to Kowloon side near there as it's just one stop pass the cross harbour tunnel to Hunghom.

I guess you have to find out which bus takes you closer to your work-place - the 170 or the 182 as both buses go to Shatin taking the Lion Rock Tunnel which should be the most direct way and comfortable way to travel. Take heed to the traffic jam but that can't be helped.

Hi Kim,

There are many buses that pass through Causeway Bay from Hung Hom KCR.

If you go to the bus terminus, most of the Causeway Bay buses leave from the same "platform" - ie. the first set of stairs you come to.

If you go there, you will see all the bus numbers and where they stop. You should get off at Canal Road.

If you went to the next platform along, where the 113 and 170 depart from - you could try the 170, it might be a little quicker because it bypasses CWB, and stops next to the Jockey Club. So then you'd have a 10-15 minute walk to Lee Garden.

I would try catching the bus first and see what the traffic is like during your time of day. You shouldn't have to wait too long for a bus, but different routeings can change the travel time. Train is a bit of a hassle.

For Kim - good advice from Slammy but would like to point out that Bus#170 has a stop at Lee Theatre which is closer to Lee Garden.

Bus#170 may have some traffic jam as it travels through The Excelsior Hotel routing but Bus#113 by-passes the CWB traffic and reaches her stop faster but you need some walking to Lee Garden.

I thought the #170 took the same route as 113, straight up the flyover... but maybe that's #171?

Indeed, if you have to go round the bend and via Excelsior, there's LOADS of traffic there! CWB is a hassle!
