Hi there,
In Stanley, at the markets, there is a shop that sells lacquerware - plates, bowls, jewellery boxes, etc. Some of the goods have eggshell detail or pearlshell inlay.
I want those same products, but I can't afford the time to get out to Stanley and back, does anyone know of a shop on Kowloon side (preferably), or Northern HKI?

I can't be sure if there were - last time I was there I wasn't looking for that sort of thing. I would be the kind of place where you'd probably find something like it though. They had all sorts of large display plates and bowls, as well as trays and assorted decorative tableware.

There is a similar shop in Horizon Plaza, Ap le Chau called 'Good Laque' or something similar.

Sorry, I don't know the name or the address. I do know that you enter the market down that main road (just down from the bus stop), then take the left at that T junction, walk along about 1/3 of the way and it's on your left hand side.

momich - there were a few lacquer place mats there in red, silver and gold. Not many on display, but I suspect that there were more out the back. I noticed that there were standard sizes and larger sizes too. Really nice shop, might be worth checking out?

Hi The Stanley store mentioned above is one of two - the other shop is located in the Pedder Building, Pedder Street (located next door to Shanghai Tang). They sell placemats.
