My child attends elementary school - an international school - in Shanghai. She often spends 1.5 - 2 hours doing homework a night. She's in 1st grade. The school says they should have a max. of 30mins/day. The teacher says my child is slow, but it is physically impossible to write a page of Chinese characters, do 2 math worksheets, 2 english worksheets, 3 science worksheets, and read a loud for 15 minutes in the time allotted. Is anyone else having such stress? It upsets me because she spends all day at school and now this cuts dramatically into our family time. Advice anyone?
