I am looking for a Blackberry plan for personal use. Not interested in browsing, just email and voice.

Also, I will use it to access my gmail and also my personal mail server (bought through Godaddy) - so not sure whether I need a Blackberry email plan or a data plan for this purpose.

You just need a Blackberry with BIS (Blackberry Internet Service). So as you describe it a data plan.
