Injections for infants

Hi,

I know that in Oz infants generally don't receive injections until around the 2-3month mark, but here in HK it seems to be as soon as they are born, I mean literally as soon as they have been checked out and everything is fine with them the nurses start giving them injections.

What are rules/laws in regards to injections here in HK? And can you have a say weather you want your child to have injections at a later date?

I don't know about the law but I don't quite understand why infants shouldn't get injections. What is the reason for the 2-3 month rule in Oz?

For the record, our kids got a shot a few hours after birth in the US.

In Australia bubs are given a shot of Vitamin K at birth and also Hep B. HK adds TB, as it is prevelent here. There are no reasons why a newborn should not be given vaccinations.

Of course you say if you want your child vaccinated, just remember to say it repeatedly.

i totally for giving injections to my daughter.

but i'm pretty sure you can refuse it. when i checked-in at the hospital to give birth, they asked me if i would consent to them giving my baby shots after she's born. so if they asked, i would think you can say no.
