Can anyone give advice on my chances of fighting a traffic ticket. The argument I have is that the "date of isse" on the 18 digit number does not match the "date of issue" on the ticket. I know back home if there is discrepancy on the ticket it is voided. Does that hold the same here in HOng Kong?

Are sure you are not confusinhg the american date system with the HK Police system. Today in police date system will be 20100430. I doubt that will void the ticket as it is not pertinent to the offence only to allow you to pay by internet.

Yes, I made sure dates were clearly indicated by year/month/date on the tickets. The wrong month was written down. It was a peculiar ticket, I thought, given as most officers would just tell you to keep moving on, especially as I was right beside my car in a relatively no traffic area! There was also a strange man taking pictures in the background as I was getting ticketed? Not sure if it was related at all but found it odd.

sounds like someone made a complaint and then photographed to make sure cars were being ticketed. good luck but don't hold your hopes up. If they started writing the ticket then they have to finish as all tickets are auditable
