my dad and i are filipinos residing in HK for 30plus years now and are both HK permenant residents.
recently, i was contacted by his other son. (my 1/2 brother from a relationship after him and my mom divorced) he lives in the philippines and was asking about my dad. ofcourse as soon as my dad knew about this, he was really eager to see him because after all these years they lost touch.
fast forwarding to my 1/2 brother finally coming to reunite with my dad after 20 years of separation, he is now visiting us on a TOURIST VISA. i know my dad will want to find everyway to see if there is a way my brother can change his status to DEPENDENT.
i understand the HK immigration law states that children who are on dependent visa must be of a certain age, but i'm not sure what is the new rule and what procedures are needed to be taken into action since i've never dealt with this sort of problem before.
can anyone advice on what i or my dad should do from here onwards? or is it going to be a painful reality that my brother will never be able to live with us here after an emotinal reunion with our father?
thanks again for everyone's time.

If you can visit this site then you can also visit the Immigration Dept site where all the details are set out for you. Also, are you not jumping the gun a bit? After 20+ years is there a clear indication that everything is going to be so good that they actually want to be living together? After all, the son is a man now, not a boy. Good luck with it anyway.
