Hi Mothers, I'm expecting a baby very soon (in the next month!!) and I have been studying a lot on which baby formula to use later on. I have read about Japanese Baby Formulas, Organic Baby Formulas and the common ones (Wyeth, MeadJohnson).
I'd like to ask: which formula do you use and what do you like about?

i'd have to agree with cara...formula is formula, don't buy into the hype of one being better than another (especially when you talk about "organic"...one of the biggest consumer scams going)...of course factor out ANY formula manufactured in China...you will find out by trial and error possibly, what your baby likes/can tolerate, so might as well wait until that time to choose...the whole "japanese" thing is simpy a chinese preference for all things japanese as being of higher quality...certainly so compared to mainland produced poisons, but no different to 'western' brands which go through rigorous testing and govt approval.

One thing to consider regardless of the formula is what water you make it with. Tap is not that good - even filtered or boiled. And bottled water has more sodium then babies need. So if you use bottled water - check the label for sodium.

By no means all bottled water has a lot of sodium. For example distilled water is free of sodium.

If you travel a lot it's a good idea to get a brand of formula that you know sells widely eg Nestle NAN. Also, there is often a supply problem in Hong Kong so buy one that you know doesn't sell out too quickly. I use Bellamy's for my baby - it's organic, made in Australia, not too expensive and very easy to buy. Holle is also meant to be a very good option, made in Germany.
