Granted, we have not tried the citronella oil, but we have found mosquito coils to work fairly well.

Someone once bought me a small bottle of concentrated citronella oil from the aromatherapy/essential oils section of a health shop in the UK, so maybe you can try a health shop here. I do use citronella candles for alfresco evenings but I'm not sure how effective they are on their own as I tend to light a couple of mosquito coils too.
And I have to say that the 'natural' insect repellent creams/sprays have never worked on me - the evil winged beasts always got and attacked me even if I was dripping in the stuff. I also find the smell of citronella can be a tad overpowering.
I am now reduced to the cunning strategy of hanging out with people whose skin is tastier than mine...

Use Neutrogena Light Sesame Body Oil around $80. it is really works against those pesky mozzies, midgies and general pests.
