Hi,
My daughter (19) has been diagnosed with a generalised anxiety disorder and has been prescribed some mild anti depressants. I know that these on their own will not be an answer and that she will need other strategies/help/support. Does anyone else out there know of anyone in Hong Kong who can further help? Open to counselling, life coaching, NLP, Cognitive therapy anything really that has helped. I just need a good recommendation. Thanks so much

I too suffered from generalised anxiety disorder on/ off for years now although I only got diagnosed last year. Since then I've been taking lexapro and I must say that it has changed my life for the better. Although I initially went to therapy alone, it was the meds that made the true difference. After I got the appropriate dose (took about 6 weeks of trial and error), I stopped going to therapy and I honestly don't feel that I need it as I'm now much more rational and calm about the things that used to make me anxious.
I'm not suggesting that other therapies aren't effective or complimentary. Just thought I'd let you know that in some cases the meds are amzingly effective on their own but please give them time to work!! Best for you and your daughter!

I have always believed in going the natural route. I hope your daughter gets better and recovers from her anxiety. It is tough and she needs all the support she can get. All the best for you both.

Dr Tommy Chan at Holistic Central is really good

He's a clinical psychologist, but I find him really easy to talk to! And he can surely help your daughter to find the best approach to solve her anxiety (besides meds!)
While I'm seeing him for therapy, my friend had really good results with him through cognitive therapy in a short time.

Based on NLP there is a technique called VCDT that has been developed that is having amazing immediate results with anxiety, panic attacks and all sorts of things. The people who developed it are doing some seminars in HK in a few weeks.
