making ice cream

I recently bought a cheap ice cream maker...from uhh 7-eleven. The process is strange. You need to freeze the tub for 8 hours in the freezer. Then I poured my strawberry puree and cream mixture. It then mixes/churns this mixture in the cold tub. And it suppose to give you soft ice cream in about 15 minutes. Well it didn't work cuz after 30 minutes it was not stiffening to become anything like soft ice cream. This is probably not what an ice cream maker is suppose to be but can anyone see what the problem is and what I should do to try and make it work? (I later froze the whole thing...and it tasted good just not in an ice cream sort of way)


I will try again and set my freezer to a lower temperature, cuz it said freeze the tub at -18 degrees.
