Hi, I'm completely useless in the kitchen and not at all creative when it comes to meals. Can you please recommend what to give her, She has just turned one.

Thank you.

She can eat more or less what you can eat actually. Just make sure the pieces are very small.

These are all pretty easy to make at home

- Chicken fingers. Marinate the chicken overnight in milk with some honey.

- Meatballs.

- Pasta with tomato sauce.

- Mild chicken curry.

- Steamed snapper.

- Grilled salmon marinated with some teriyaki sauce. Mmmm.

- Spring rolls.

- Steamed broccoli.

- Mashed potatoes.

- Risotto.

- Fried rice.

Thanks, I got the Annabel Karmel book but I either don't have time to make some of the dishes, they call for ingredients I find hard to get or expensive or I cant cook.

Annabel Karmel is fine, but as you say a bit too elaborate. I also don't approve much of making smiley faces on food and such. Call me old fashioned. ;)

I suggest you get a good "basics" cookbook and have a go at some of the recipes.

One point to remember: Just because your child refused the dish once doesn't mean she won't adore it a week later (and vice versa). Keep exposing her to flavors. She will surprise you.

my 1 + year old loves anything she can pick up - so we do cheese on toast, peas and corn mixed, little fish cakes (careful for bones), chunks of cooked sweet pot, pasta, macaroni cheese and all the ones mentioned above.

my daughter is not really concerned with recipes, generally we pick a variety of food each evening like plain rice, potato or pasta a vegetable like broccoli or spinach perhaps some cheese and/or mushrooms. make sure it is soft enough and small enough. it is usually just steamed or boiled to that point. she likes a bit of steak sauce or sesame sauce with it sometimes, and sometimes she ignores it all and wants to eat what we are!

the advantage of this is that she can feed herself with almost all of it, in fact we hardly ever feed her with a spoon etc and never have.
