Bugs in Baby's Room!

ORIGINAL POST

We just ordered some furniture from Jade Rattan, so our 21-month-old is sleeping in her new bed.

We just noticed lots of tiny bugs in the room. Now, I don't want to cast aspersions on Jade Rattan, because those bugs may have appeared due to humidity/hot weather etc. I recall seeing some tiny bugs in the flat before we moved in, but we thought it was because the flat had been empty, and we hadn't seen them since.

Did anyone have a similar problem, with new furniture and tiny bugs appearing? I mean, Jade Rattan I assume would have treated the wood (it's not pine wood, but alder or elder wood ???).

And how to deal with the problem? I was hoping I could keep my daughter in the room but obviously I couldn't if I were to spray it?

The bugs could have piggybacked on the transport. Also, in HK you will eventually get bugs due to the climate.

Try one of the little fumigators you can buy at the supermarket. They are quite good. Do it just after your little one wakes so you get max number of hours between fumigation and re-occupation. Remember to open all closet doors, chest drawers etc so the stuff gets in there as well. Also wash the bedsheets. Your daughter will be fine coming back in afterwards. The stuff disappears completely.

Great, thanks for the tip, I'll have a look for the fumigators in the supermarket. She could probably sleep with us for a couple of nights anyway...

So you know what to look for, they are little cylinders with cellophane wrapping. Yellow or red depending on type. Found next to the bug spray and stuff.
