As a person that prefers my Jack & Coke I also realize that Jack Daniels is not as inexpensive in HK as I am used to in the US.
I don't like beer so much, but the wife does and I have heard that good craft beer is difficult to come buy or expensive. As a solution I have considered and entertained the idea of home brewing there in Hong Kong. There are some questions however.
1. Are there any of you currently brewing in HK?
2. What kinds of equipment should I bring with me vs buy there?
3. What kinds of ingredients should I bring with me vs buy there?
4. Is there a good supplier for the sanitation supplies and such?
5. Who has the best CO2?
Share your trade secrets and tips here too I guess. And how about wine making? Anyone doing that there? Is making liquors allowed there too?

I think you will find home brewing is illegal in HK.

Actually, unless I am reading this wrong, in 2008 the requirements to get a license to import or manufacture liquors with less than 30% alcohol have been removed and duties are now zero.
"Suspension of Licensing/Permit Controls
3. Starting from 6 June 2008, under the new law, the administrative controls on the specified goods will be relaxed. Wine/liquor traders will no longer be required to apply for any licences or permits for the import or export, manufacture, storage or movement of the specified goods. No valuation of the alcoholic beverages concerned for duty purpose will be required."
