We are having a bit of a clear out, and want to find a good home to some paper backs (ideally a charity) and some old clothes (again, ideally to charity).

There's a Chinese lady at Wellington (? the one up from Queen's) / Aberdeen in Central who has a small stall selling second hand books. I bought some from her and she seemed a person making a very honest living. She sells them for very little money and i felt a little bad so when i finish i'll bring them back to her for free. I think she'd be happy to take yours.
