Guilt from working

ORIGINAL POST

For the past several months, I've been feeling guilty for having to work. I get angry at myself for not being able to spend more time with my toddler. My husband and I both need to work in order to support our family financially. Is there any way I could work from home and be a full time mom?? I'd like to hear about some real experiences and about real jobs.

Any chance you can find a job with shift-work? I work full-time, but my hours are 5:30am - 1:15pm. I can spend every afternoon at home with my daughter, and when I put her to bed around 8pm, I also go to bed. OK, sometimes my husband complains I'm unsociable... :-P...

Seems like part-time work is very difficult to find in HK and companies are not too supportive of working mums.

Hi... sent you PM. I might add that I don't know anything about part-time work. It's just that the industry that I work in, it's common to find work that has unusual hours...

Beancurd-

What you say is true, but people are allowed to make choices. I'm sure if there are other options out there and the job is suitable for us working moms then we'll take it over having to work full time.

hi there!!im also a mother ,i just want to share this to you.yes your correct here in hk its not easy to find a part time so that you can enjoy your family i also felt the same way before and i been to a lot of trials as well. unless you have i lot of money then you can have ur own business then u can spent ur time with ur family.i think this the reality here in hk thats why everybody is working so hard so in the future our children wont experience all this .so maybe as of this moment just try to spent quality time with ur baby whenever u have dayoff ...im not holly person but mix it with prayer...i hope somebody will help u to find as a partime..
