Hair Advice Needed - Digital Perm

ORIGINAL POST

I have naturally frizzy hair and I have been having it chemically straightened for the past 10 years. I'm rather tired of having poker-straight hair now although I do like being frizz-free.

Would it be wise to consider a digital perm to jazz up the roots? The last time I had my hair chemically straightened was more than a year ago, although I did have just my fringe done a month ago.

While I'd love to have more body and bouncy digital curls, I wouldn't want my hair to frizz up again. Would the curls even work on my chemically straightened hair?

Advice much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there,

I'm no hairdresser and they could probably give you better advice but I think, from my knowledge, that you can perm hair that's been chemically-straightened. You only risk damaging it further, though, and making it more dry so that it could break off. So maybe some hairdressers would be reluctant to do that and would want you to grow it out a bit more.

I take it from your message that you have frizzy hair but not really curly? In that case, if you get a perm, it would make the curls more uniform and attractive. You would probably still need a bit of styling (wax / oil etc) to run through the hair after you dry it, in order to get rid of the frizz. But certainly, you could get a perm to tidy it up.

Never heard of a "digital" perm? What's that?

i have frizzy hair with soft curls. I was tired of the frizziness, HK my hair is usually out of control. I dont really like straightening, did try a treatment a month back which has worked out quite well. My hair now has body, texture is good, doesnt have the same affect as getting it straightened but good for those who like a more natural feel. it was a treatment so not chemical, if you are interested i could get the name from my stylist, I have no idea what a digital perm is....
