ORIGINAL POST

I ned to cover a window with something to try and block out the sound of my neighbours barking dogs. Does anyone have any ideas or know where I could get a piece of wood cut to size?

Many thanks

Perhaps you could speak to your neighbour about their barking dogs, they may be able to stop it, failing their co-operation perhaps speak to you appartment mangement, a warning letter from them sometimes works, they may have had complaints from other tenants.

You could try getting a double glazed window installed if it really is a nuisense, but that is quite expensive, The dogs owners may not realise the dogs are barking so much especially if they are out at work.

Thanks dipper and susie1. Ill check out Lockhart Road asap.

Im afraid there is nothing I can so susie1, the dogs belong to a family in our village who know it bothers us but dont care and wont do anything to stop it. Such a shame :-(

If anyone has any other suggestions please do let me know.

It would help if you put a thick piece of polysterene cut to fit snuggly between the window and the piece of wood that you are going to fit. You can buy large sheets of polysterene about an inch or thicker in most stationary shops then you can cut it to fit yourself.

Thanks all for your replies. I cant report them as it would turn very ugly in our village - they are the indigenous family, village politics etc.

Lloyds, its not our place, its rented, so I dont want to spend to much, hopefully we can move as soon as our contract allows us. I welcome your suggestions about the options you have mentioned.

We had another sleepless night, their dogs barked all night, and then started again at 6am!

Hi STK, instead of complaining, which I think you may have tried, you can install windows with double glasses. My mum tried and it is not as expensive as you may think. I can ask my mum how much. Even you do not own the house, I think it's worth your money cos it';s about your resting time.

cheers
