Power of Attorney

Not sure the right title but I wanted to know how I can go abouts to take over my father's account. He has not handled his finances well and is now retired. There is not much left in his account and would like to know what are the legal procedures to take steps so that I can handle his finances before he gets into more debt.

Any information would be great.

Thanks

Yes, it's called Power of Attorney. Just go to the bank with your dad and get him to ask them to help him fill out the form. They'll need both of you to sign the form and your ID cards. Well that's what it is for HSBC.

Thanks very much for this info. Didn't realise it was that simple. Thought I would have to get a lawyer involved.

Thanks again
