Hi, we've just moved fr Tung Chung apartment to village for the same reason as you do. We feel much more relaxing living in a village house with rooftop and balcony. Our house is 9k rent. Transport is excellent. Minibus to Hang Hau MTR every 3 mins. I always miss the bus but never wait long. Let me know if you need an agent.

Whereabouts are you Chillifontain? I am in CWB but looking to move nearer to Sai Kung town. Am curious to know if your village is nice and quiet? Also is the bus you mean, the 101? Thanks so much in advance

I think it's too far for people work in Central or HK island, but for work in TST or Kln Bay, its fine.

I go to Central everyday. It's not too far at all! I live in Sai Kung Country park.Very quiet this side and green minbus takes u to Sai Kung Town. Every 30 mins so u don't have to wait for the bus! I love our village...it's Tsam Chuk Wan. Not too many ppl but lovely view! yes 101 is the bus. We're 10 mins away from town.

cara, i gotta ask you, when did you start renting your triplex, cause there's no way you can rent it for that price nowdays, more looking like 30k a month

I'm throwing a spanner in the Sai Kung town/Country Park works, but here goes: arriving at Hang Hau MTR from Central at 19.20 this evening there was a queue of about 80 waiting for the 101 bus to Sai Kung. Okay, the service is frequent and it's not too long a wait but it was HOT in that bus station tonight. I was lucky as I also had a choice of two other services to Clearwater Bay Road, which I took, but I did feel sorry for all those people sweating and waiting in the 101 line who had probably already been on two MTR trains and would still have to catch another bus once they got to Sai Kung town centre. Having said that, I'd still rather live out this way than on the island, without a doubt. Swings and roundabouts, I guess...

Another resident, another car.
More reason for the 4 lane highway and MTR.
Actually, does that need a reason anymore? It will be built regardless.
Stay where you are, Sai Kung will soon turn into Mong Kok/Tung Chung/Central anyway so it will save you the moving bills.
Thames is right.
Sai Kung is way past the point of being overcrowded with regard to transport.
Rush hour in the weekday mornings and evenings is very unpleasant.
Saturday and Sunday are a joke.
Everywhere I walk nowadays, new '700 sq ft' flats are being built.
And they aren't being built out of trees and grass...

Hi Bumblebee, I lived in SK for over 15 years. Back then the area was absolutely remote. But SK is also famous for its high rent and high cost of living. Cara's is a great bargain to me...
As far as i know, houses along Clear Water Bay Road will be much more expensive then the other side, ie Along Sai Sha Road. The good thing is Clear Water Bay is nearer to Tseung Kwan O, which means you can consider taking MTR from there; if you live near the Sai Sha side, you will go along Shatin. If you choose to live near Sai Kung, eg. Nam Wai, Ho Chung, you go along the Kolwoon and HKUST side (and then from HKUST you are near TKO and Clear Water Bay).
Hope it's still helpful cos I have moved a long time....

Sorry forgot to say: are you driving? If you drive, anywhere is fine - but need to consider the rent of the carpark. And in some villages, carpark is scarce and can be expensive. And also the roads of SK are, to me, not safe.
