I came across a few recipes using Mirin, does anyone know what it is and where I can get it. Is it Sake? Staff at PnS, Wellcome, Citysuper or Great does not seem to know or heard of it.

Mirin is the Japanese sweet rice wine - yes, like a sweet sake, but it is used for cooking. I would be very surprised if Citysuper doesn't stock it. Try looking for 味醂 or みりん.

I have previously purchased mirin at Wing On department store, the one in Jordan, in the food department (basement floor). However, this was years ago, and I am unsure if they stock it consistently. I think that you would have a better chance at finding it in Citysuper.
