head to quarry bay. about 500m east of QB MTR station you'll find Mt Parker Road, beside the QB Municipal Building. It's an uphill walk to Quarry Gap, then downhill in different directions including Tai Tam County Park. There's also Jacobs Ladder, to the top of Mount Parker, and over and down to Braemar Hill. You can also connect to the Wilson Trail there.

Go to Page One bookstore in Times Square and get yourself on of the many "best hikes in Hong Kong' guides...full of maps of hikes all over the territory...the best ones (IMHO) are off of HK Island anyway...

be aware that now is not really hiking season as it gets crazy hot, and humid (though the air/visibility is much better than winter.)

the mt parker route is definitively the nicest one. i used to live up on mt parker road and do the quarry gap plus tai tam and then across to repulse bay. a good 2.5h walk but very easy to do once you have reached quarry gap.

You can start at football club and then walk along/up mountain (just follow the path) It will take you to Chung Hom Kok, then there is another path at the beginning of CHK road, you can follow that to Stanley. There are a couple of stray dogs around CHK path area, they are harmless and you may not even see them, but just thought i'd let you know.

Also, you can do the Pinewood walk up to the Peak. It's in Mid-Levels.
