I have a 42" Philips plasma TV. After 10 to 15 minutes the picture starts showing the outline of the current image on the screen so that when it moves on the the next scene an image of the last can be seen. It gets progressively worse until after about another 5 to 10 minutes the picture in is totally obscured by the many black image outlines of the various scenes imprinted on the screen. The same thing happens every time the TV is switched on, rendering it unusable other than to watch a quick 10 minutes news clip of something. Is it a simple fix job at home or do I have to take it to a repair shop? If the latter, where should I take it? Advice would be appreciated.

The probem persists so I rang Philips workshop in Kwun Tong. They would give no general advice, the stock answer being $650 call out charge, plus $1,600 for just looking at it, plus the cost of parts. So it looks like a landfill job and a new TV, which will not be a Philips and which not be a plasma (which gives out a terrific amount of heat).

LCDs and LEDs give off heat too. However the ghosting issue is pretty much gone with this technology.
I saw a Samsung 55" LED with 3D for 43k at Fortress. Nice deal.
