Hi, I've just opened a wedding gown shop in HK.
In my own experience it's hard to find a nice wedding dress here in HK cuz most wedding gowns we can find here at the local stores are "too much" - too much shiny details, too much lace, too much beads work .... just "too much", which is not what most of "you" want.
My wedding dresses are totally different becuz I see that problem. If you like Vera Wang you'll like my dresses - simple but elegant.
More important, most of my business profit goes to donation to the St. Margaret's church and therefore I try not to price my dresses too high. If you have visited any local wedding gown shop here you probably know the price is usually ranged $20K - $40K for a non-designer brand dress. Plus it usually takes 4-8 months to make a dress. My price is $15K - $25k, and fast fabrication.
Well, just a little nudge here to let you all know about my new venture =)
Please private message me if you are looking for a wedding dress in HK, see if anything I can help =)

Are you planning to make a supply and rent them out? Renting is an option taken by at least 3 of my friends here because they simply did not want to spend huge amounts on a dress that would probably be worn once only. My cousin rented a dress from one of the shops in Kimberley Street and she looked an absolute princess. Yes, probably what you say had "too much" but she loved it, her husband loved it, and everyone else did too

I only do selling, no renting. However, I do have 3 dresses that I wanna sell them at a very cheap price ($3,300 to 5,000, and renting one could be even more expensive than that). Reason is some of the materials on these 3 dresses have been discontinued and therefore I won't be able to make the same dress again for my customers. Therefore I just can't leave them on my display shelves no more. The dresses are brand new and of course no one has worn them before. Actually they're copies of some designer-dresses (Priscilla of Boston for instance). Your friends may still come take a look. Its okay even if they will not be interested in any of them. Btw, will they by any chance want to be a volunteer model? I'm looking for a cauasian girl to model my dresses. The photoshoot will be carried out by a professional wedding photographer so I'm just thinking, it might be a good chance for your friends if they're looking for free bridal photoshoot =P But of course they have to be slim =P

Are your dresses bespoke? Or do you have a set range that people can choose from and then tailor to fit them? Also what sort of fabric do you use? is it European or Chinese?

I have a set if dresses on the shelves. When a customer comes she chooses the one she likes, and I take her measurements and tailor make the same dress to fit her.
I actually buy my dresses from a Spanish friend from Spain (not a very famous designer of course. But u know in Spain, wedding gown designers are everywhere becuz its a very good business there). I probably know where you are coming from regarding materials from China. Before I opened this business, I did a lot of research and I almost went thru each local wedding gown shop here in HK. Most of their dresses are from China, and the materials are very coarse, not to mention the style of the dresses (just not my type). Of course there're nice ones such as those from the shops in Central. I think the owners of those shops in Central are the designers themselves so they probably have a factory in China or something.
