Visiting South Africa in mid-October

We're going to spend a week in SA in mid-October. We will land in Joberg and aim for Cape Town. Here are a few questions:

Options to Cape Town: plane, train, drive, or even bus (as someone suggested)?

Any areas to avoid in Cape Town area if driving?

Any suggestions for good, reasonably priced hotels in Cape Town area?

THNAKS!

fly to cape town.

do table mountain

do camps bay

go for long drives with a map

head out to Franschoek and stay a night or 2 (40 minutes drive from cape town)

keep windows up, and doors locked

do a coastal drive and stay a night somewhere

the cape rocks, i lived there last year.

The list is endless - the winelands, cape point, Robben Island longer drives down to the garden route, beautiful small towns and whale watching. If you're a cricket fan go watch a match at Newlands A good website to check out the lodging is www.wheretostay.co.za

enjoy!
