I got sever burns from a laser treatment done at a popular skin care centre in Hong Kong. I am planning to ask for compensation. any idea about a reasonable amount of compensation?. my friends want me to go through a lawyer, but I don't have that much time to spend on these things.
thanks

My dear, you should see a doctor to assess and confirm your burns, try to get them treated so to minise any scarring then approach the centre with a resonable claim, if they are not keen to negoiate then you would have to go through a lawyer.
hope it helps, you can pm me if you got more questions

thanks rosalinldy. I am seeing a dermatologist. wounds are getting better, but the doctor says my skin will never be the same as it was before. my friends are advising me to take this through legal procedures. hope I will find some justice without going through a lawyer.

Since we're talking about laser, I did like to know if there are any adverse effects to using laser long term. I have been getting it done for my facial hair, from various good clinics, over a period of more than 5 years now! I have never got burnt, but off late I get a lot of pimples either immediately after or even a month later.
The process is so slow and actually does not even remove hair permanently and hence is almost an ever going treatment. Spending huge amounts of money on it is only a small part, but I have started worrying if the long term use of this technique could harm my skin in anyway...
Would be grateful for comments/experience on this. Thanks.

as far as I know in long term the skin will become weaker and weaker . Also it will become more sensitive.

zonked, while admitting I am no expert on laser removal of facial hair as I can only speak from my experience, five years does seem to me to be a very long time. I don't know what the long term effects are but my excess hair was removed within one year (about nine sessions) and I was told that took more than average to treat. Is the hair particularly prolific/course/stubborn or is your skin too sensitive to take a stronger 'zap'? I know this was the case for me with electrolysis, which didn't work on me anyway, so I was really happy when laser removal was developed and became 'do-able' for me cost-wise. That was about two and a half years ago. Between us the nurse and I worked out the correct level, she gradually cranked up the dial and to date I have no facial hair or ill effects except slight over-pigmentation, which just means I need to slap good sun block on the treated area. But maybe ten years down the line something might manifest itself, including re-growth. Hopefully not! But back to you: I would question why it is taking so long to treat, and though you say you have been to various good clinics I do wonder if it is being done properly. PM me if you'd like to chat about clinic used etc.

I had a 3 sessions on my legs and then decided to give it up as i couldn't afford it. I would say about a 1/4 of my leg is permanently hairless. It's in patches though. Not bad after 3 times. Underarms, no results.
Sorry to hear about the burns, that's really terrible. What did the clinic have to say?
