Hi
Sorry maybe this question has laready been asked 100's time but i cannot find the thread. We are planning to move from the UK to HK in october and have a 6 year old daughter to find a school for! It seems even harder than finding a job in HK! Anyway what are the chances of getting her in year 2 in either Beacon hill or Discovery college? i am assuming the NT would not be as full as the HK island schools? thanks for your help!

It is indeed hard to find a school at short notice. However people move here all the time and do find schools. Conversely, people move away all the time so spots open up.
You may not be able to get her into your preferred school right away. Don't limit yourself to ESF. You should contact a good 5-6 schools and inquire. Call now and put your daughter on the waiting list (there is a small fee for doing this at most International schools) since schools are starting in the next 2-3 weeks. There are a surprising number of last minute no-shows and changes so spots open up in this period. Of course, this means you'll have to enroll your daughter now and pay for the spot from now even if she isn't here. I would definitely do that instead to ensure.
If you are doing a corporate move, you should also ask your company if they are willing to buy a corporate debenture. Those bypass the normal line, if you will. If they want to move you out here, finding a spot for your daughter is in some respects their responsibility. Several companies hire people specifically to find school spots for transferees.
