Hi I am looking for info on whats permitted to be earned and how this has to be declared without opening a real "company" ......I sometimes do some jobs but its very irregular and I doubt I will make more then 100 k a year with this, kind of defeats the purpose of hiring a accountant, do a business registration etc....
but I cant for the life of me find any information in HK what im allowed to do freelance, which way and how and how much.
BTW im a perm resident.

You might consider posting this on the Legal Forum - Weir and Associates, who monitor that forum, my be able to give you a better answer...
From my understanding... you are not allowed to work in Hong Kong regardless of the fees you generate - without a work visa.
If you don't require a work visa i.e. you are a permanent resident of HK... then I wouldn't think there is any threshold at which you would be required to incorporate...
For further info on this you might want to touch base with keith@lamchuicpa.com.hk

As a freelance, you need to register as a business. However, for $100K a year, you are hardly likely to need to hire an accountant! For that kind of money, you can do it yourself!
Just keep all your work-related receipts, and claim them against your earnings. Depending how big your expenses are, and how much you actually bring in, you may end up paying very little tax at all.
But you won't know until you do your tax return. And that, like death, is one of life's inevitables......
