Query on 2nd hand white goods

I have come across someone selling white goods.


They advertise the white goods as from different areas, Quarry Bay, Kowloon etc. When you ring up the good are at Li Chi Kok.


We went up and was met at the MTR and shown a washing machine and fridge in a garage.


The goods were wrapped in plastic because "they were moving". The washing machine was too small and a 'friend' who was moving on the same day had the size we wanted and it turned up in a van wrapped in plastic with a instruction CD (in about 20 minutes).


Goods look in good condition but we have not tested the washing machine yet.


2 week later I answered an add for a fridge same person, same location.


So, stolen, avoiding tax? JUst running a business?Any ideas?

My guess would be a business selling second hand goods.

But why not say so? Why lie about it?
