We were casually informed by the tenants in the next door flat that the owner is thinking of selling the apt.
What a stroke of good luck, we thought, as we have been talking about purchasing that flat to combine it with ours for ages. Unfortunately, bef we could obtain the landlord's details, the tenants moved away.
I have done a property search (IRIS) to obtain some info on the owner but all it comes up with is the name of owner and nothing much else.
I'm hoping that someone can give me a suggestion as to what I should do.
Many thanks in advance.

true, but wanting to buy the flat is not an emergency...and they would have instructions on who to call in case of emergency, not just giving out the info to anyone who asks....i would hope my management would keep my contact details confidential (though in light of recent 'confidentiality' events in HK, this may be wishful thinking...). I would do as cara suggests, and ask around at the estate agents regarding the pending sale...tho it would be great to contact the owner directly to avoid the agency fee if possible

Why don't you slip a note into the empty flat stating your intention? Think that is the most direct way.
