I just got married to a Filipina helper last month, here in HK. I already sponsor her for a dependent visa and still in the process. At the moment shes still with her employer, shes also 2mos pregnant now. Will it be a help if I will tell the immigration that shes pregnant?( show the pregnancy certification).

Shes still under a domestic visa, i want her to stay with me ASAP once we get the dependent visa. Can she just leave her employer once we have it or do we still need to give them a one month notice?

She must honour a legally binding contact and give one month's notice to her employer OR give her employer one month's salary in lieu of notice.

Alternatively she may want to continue working for her employer as a 'live out' helper once she has her dependant's visa but she and her employer would need to discuss this change in contract.

...But telling Immigration that she is pregnant would have no impact at all. My brother-in-law married a PH helper a few years back and it couldn't have gone smoother. She gave a month's notice to her employer (they subsequntly went to the wedding) and then moved in with him for a couple of weeks. Then she went home for a couple of weeks, returning with other family members - they all came in on 14-day tourist visas. After the wedding everyone left at the same time - the couple for their honeymoon and the family back home to PH. When the couple came back to HK she was on another tourist visa and the next day they applied for her dependant's visa. I think they had to get one extension on her tourist visa before it was all completed. Good luck! The secret will be to making sure that you have all the required documentation - including proof of an intended long-term relationship!

It shouldn't at all. However, Immigration Officers are as human as anyone else and might currently be harbouring some anti-Filipino feelings that could affect the way they think and act. But like I said - it shouldn't.

[UPDATE] Please note that fee quotes stated in historic postings may be out-of-date.

Any evidence to support the “bona fides” of the marriage will be good to give to the Immigration Department since they are aware that many marriages are not “real”: the proof of pregnancy will underline the reality!! Often it is a good idea to call the Immigration Department once you have a file number and nudge it along…IF it has already been more than say 6 weeks.
