i saw an ad for an "Authentic louis vuitton bag" advertised and it says it has the original sleeper bag and receipt. i went to meet up with the seller and i asked her again if it was real and she assured me it is. i paid for it and realized later that the receipt is a photocopy of the real one. (it looked like a computer print out, black and white with the company logo) i went to the louis vuitton shop in landmark and they confirmed that it was a fake.
i sent the seller a message on asiaxpat and never got a reply. she told me she spends most of her time in italy and comes here every few months to visit her husband who is based here for work, as an architect. i tried calling her mobile as well. i really thought she was a nice and genuine person but i guess looks can be deceiving. i could tell she was wearing a wig and she told me it's because she had cancer, etc. etc.
i'm posting this thread to warn other people about scammers. lesson learned, i will never buy a bag from anywhere else but the official shop. i don't know what else i can do - report to Ed? i have her asiaxpat username if that helps.....

She should be banned because Asiaxpat does not allow fake items to be sold in its classifieds.

The user name is ThePrincess. I saved her messages on in my inbox. i also have her phone number. i was wondering if this is useful in tracking her as she will have to have a proof of address in order to get the number?

Another scam I've heard of is where people have original receipts for the genuine article, then buy an identical fake copy, then use the original receipt to dupe the unsuspecting buyer. So it's probably best not to buy expensive designer bags from the Classified section, unless you can arrange to meet the seller at one of the shops to verify authenticity. If they don't want to do that, then it's safe to assume it's a fake to start with. Just a suggestion.
