You have some sort of malicious program installed. Typically the culprit is a malicious script on some website.

- Update your antivirus and run a full scan.

- Check that your firewall is working.

- Get something like Spybot Search and Destroy (free) and run it. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html . Note that there are two versions. One works like a "normal" program. One makes a CD to boot your machine with and can get rid of even more stubborn malware.

- Run one or more of the online scanners. Here are two good ones: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ , http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html.

If all that doesn't work, take the machine to an expert like Match Power in Wan Chai Computer Centre.

Firefox does rock.

Do make sure your antivirus is up to date.

I wanted to add that those malicious scripts in Internet Explorer can be REALLY hard to eradicate.

While we are at it, here are some recommended add-ons in Firefox which you can get here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ :

- Adblock Plus

- Colorful Tabs

- Download Statusbar

- Forecastbar Enhanced

- Ghostery

- IE Tab 2

- Speed Dial

- Tab Mix Plus
