Hi, I gave birth to twin boys a couple of months ago and would like to connect with other moms of twins. Now that I have survived the first 10 weeks, I am looking for advice on how to get out about in Hong Kong with twins, where the best places to shop for double stuff (any place offer discounts for buying for two?), and just be able to share some experiences. Are there any twin playgroups or places where I could meet other twin moms?
Thanks, any advice appreciated!

Hi Sous-skipper, Congratulations to your two boys. You'll find out that twins are tremendous fun. I have twin girls myself and love it.
I still find the "mothers of multiples", an organisation of mothers of twins and triplets, extremely helpful. They happen to have their opening lunch for the membership year this Friday, September 17th at Scirocco in SoHo, 10-12 Staunton Street. Check out their website for more information (http://www.moms-hongkong.com) for more info. They offer second hand sales, coffee mornings and playdates as well. I joined when I was still pregnant - and it helped me a LOT to prepare for the arrival of my girls.
Good luck, hope to see you Friday.

Hi sous-skipper. My twin boys are 14 weeks old. I haven t joined MOM yet and unfortunately can t make it to their opening lunch.I don t feel confident enough yet to leave my helper with the twins and my 3.5 years old(boy as well) on her own. But if you go to I d love to ear what you think. I live in DB so it s very easy for me to get the twins out. If I go to central without my husband I only take one kid either my eldest or one of the twins. Haven t found any place that gives twin discount yet

Sous-Skipper, congrats on the twins and I applaud you for reaching out. I have twin boys who are now 7 and I still belong to the Hong Kong Mothers Of Multiples group because I think it's such a wonderful resource for twin/triplet moms...especially in the early years. I highly encourage you to look into this group of women from all walks who share the common joy of multiples. I'll be at the opening lunch on Friday.
Wow, 151, three, under 3.5 and one helper! I had 1 helper for the first year of my twin boys' lives and my DH and I were exhausted! I suggest that you join one of the HKMOMs under 3's playgroups and bring your 3.5 year old and helper along. I know that the playgroups are often held at the Aberdeen Marina Club which has a lovely playroom and allows domestic helpers to accompany the family throughout the club. It's a bit of a trip for you, but I promise that the connection you'll make with the other ladies who understand exactly what you are going through will make it worth the trip. I have four children myself...including three very (hyper)active boys!
clwanner...see you on Friday!

Thanks clwanner and exeter. I did contact the group and it does seem like they organize a lot of activities. I didn't make it to the opening lunch, but am hoping to make it to the new moms lunch this Friday. I just need to get the timing right - feeding, nap time and time to get myself presentable!
151, I have done a few short outings and left the babies with the helpers - they seemed to do fine and hardly notice my absence, so am feeling pretty confident about treating myself to a lunch. I'll let you know what I learn about MoMs after the lunch.

Hi congratulations I have 2 sets of twin boys first set 6 next month and second set were 4 in July and yes I have 2helpers.We live in the NT so it was harder to go to the twins club on the island. No discount on buying double, your best to buy second hand if poss check for wear and tear on pushchairs ie brakes, wheels and some things you will only need one.We used one cot with 2 baskets when small babies then they slept together for a while before having 2 cots. The real cost of children is the education and PNS(Park and Rob)....good luck Sarah

Hi, congrats on your twins, I have now 4,5 year old twin girls. I do not have a helper, never did never will!!! Don't get me wrong there are days when it is hard but most of the time we are fine. I found a babycarrier and a single pram quiet a good way to get around. good luck
