i think you should report it for two reasons: one is that other people might have experienced the same. he just needs to know from some authority that his actions are wrong.

secondly, it bothers you, so reporting it might relieve you a bit as well. not everyone reacts the same way to such unwelcome advances.

one key question that i have however is whether you ever explicitly said "no" or "dont do this" or something like that when he did it. that should be quite important if you go to the police to report him. merely moving away on the chair or so might be indicative but not enough - though i am no expert on it.

another way to do it: write to him, tell him you consider him an idiot and it was wrong what he did and demand an apology from him else you report him to police. such an approach might relieve you of the bad feelings better than going to police itself.

...but just a suggestion...

Sorry for sounding unsisterly, but I don't think the police are going to take 'wild fondling', albeit without genital contact and perpetrated several months ago, very seriously. Nor do I. You sound like a passage from a 1970s Mills & Boon. How old are you? How much world experience do you have? I would just put it down to some saddo trying it on. Give him a bollocking without too much drama and then don't give him a moment's more thought. Move on.

"I have been sexually assaulted a number of times in my life, sometimes with genital contact, sometimes without genital contact"

if this is true, then i strongly recommend that you consult a psychologist or psychiatrist asap. not because you are crazy or something, rather because you need serious help.

your answer above on moving away vs saying no is a clear indication that you need help. you must say 'no' else people will continue to prey on you and you will fall victim again.
