Thinking about moving to Tung Chung because what you get for your money is awesome plus I like all the green however I was out there the other day looking at apartments and kept smelling an exhaust smell even on the 50th floor. Is this normal in Tung Chung? I've been checking the pollution API and it seems generally a lot lower than most places. Is anybody living there now that could comment? Most of the other threads are over a couple of years old. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. It seems Tung Chung on average is better but has more extreme pollution days. Is the pollution being carried by winds from China or is it from the airport? Does it often smell of exhaust?

I would guess China pollution is way more than the airport. Modern aircraft are very "clean".

i would think pollution from the airport is a significant cause of Tung Chung's poor air quality. The assertion that modern aircraft are very clean is simply not true. It might be better to say relatively clean (compared to planes from the 60s for example.)
