Would like to go to Tibet this December, any advise?

My initial plan is take the flight from ShenZhen or guangzhou to Lasa and then take the train travel around Tibet. is it convenient?

anyone interested to join? I think I will spend 20 days there.

There is only one railway in Tibet and it stops in Lhasa so travelling by train isn't best.

It sounds like this will be your first trip to Tibet. I suggest you get a guidebook and decide what you want to see and then plan your itinerary. It's common and easy to book a tour of a few days when you're there.

If you're interested also in the cultural aspect, this is an interesting travelogue in the form of dialogues between many Tibetans and the author, a Han woman from Hong Kong, so no communist propaganda. Really gives you an idea of the relationships between the two races and also how the Tibetans see their religion, their land, the Muslims etc. Nothing like the western fantasy travelogues by some backpackers who nod and smile to communicate with the Tibetans either.

Palace IFC bookshop (next to the cafe) sells it but they're renovating as you may know. Another place to try is the Archicentre on Peel Street (near Queen's Road)
