Where to live with a 3 year old and 1 year old

We are going to be in Hong for 2 months and are trying to figure out where to live. Since I have 2 small children, I need to be able to push a pram. I would like to live in Central so that I could access all public transportation. Also, it seems like it would be the most interesting to walk around. I have heard there are stairs everywhere, am I going to have a hard time? Any recommendations for areas and services apartments would be greatly appreciated!

HK is not the easiest with prams, especially double-wide ones. Most MTR exits have stairs at least part way and there are stairs all over on the streets. However the parts close to the coastline are flat since it's all reclaimed land so you'll be ok there.

There are serviced apartments in Pacific Place. Can't remember the exact building though. That's in Admiralty. You have Hong Kong Park right behind (pram friendly) and can easily walk to Central without stairs.

familiarize yourself with the MTR Island Line and the lift access (Tseun Wan Line is not as accessible) at:

www.mtr.com.hk

To avoid the inevitable hassle, you might consider taxi's for a large part of your travel. get a suitable child harness for your kids (Joeysafe etc.)

you might also consider finding a short term rental in Discovery Bay, a very child-friendly family oriented community, a 25-30 min ferry ride from Central. Lots of bike/walking paths, nice beach with play structures, nice plaza for chilling out while the kids run amok (jk)...close to Disneyland...

Thanks for all of your help so far. Someone from my husbands work recommended Parkview. I love the amenities as well as all of the activities. However, will I be in the middle of nowhere? I know Hong Kong is a small island, but it just seems that it's further then I want to be from Central.

then disregard my Disco Bay suggestion...it seems you REALLY want to be in the centre of it all...can't help you with Central locations I'm afraid. Pacific Place sounds like a good option.

Parkview has great facilities with nice playground, gym, a couple of pools, restaurants, and a very nice pram friendly walk in the woods along the (car-free) Tai Tam Reservoir Road. It is downhill from Parkview though so a bit of work going home.

It is a bit isolated on top of the hill, but there is a shuttle bus to Central several times an hour. We lived there for six weeks when we got to HK and really disliked it. It felt like a citadel in the wilderness. Others love it. It is definitely not in the thick of it. Note also that Disco Bay is not much further time-wise.

Come to think of it, there are serviced apartments in Happy Valley, much of which is quite pram-friendly. Close to the action as well.

Nappy Valley is very pram friendly with lots of young expat families with babies. You can take the pram to ParknShop (food supermarket) Starbucks, various restaurants and bars and also into the public park, sports grounds etc within Happy Valley race course itself. You can even walk into Causeway Bay to all the shops there.

It would certainly be a lot more pram friendly than Midlevels and Central.

I have it on good authority that "Ellipsis" in Happy Valley is a good serviced apartment place. You can google it.
