Primary School

The time to start looking is now. Don't delay. Many of the schools have waiting lists that stretch for years, with parents applying when their child is born.

I'll assume you want English as language of instruction. It is worth checking out several schools and also applying for several. The non-refundable application fees you will lose are worth it.

I'm assuming K2 means last year of kindy, with primary next year?

Some good private schools on the Island. Check out the websites, contact, visit.

- English Schools Foundation - Several schools. Note appplication deadline is TODAY (see below). You are probably in the Quarry Bay School catchment area. Our #1 goes to Bradbury (other ESF school) and we are very happy.

- Kellett School - English. Smaller school.

- HKIS - HK International School. American. A BIG school.

- CDNIS - Canadian International School. Canadian/IB.

- FIS - French International School. Has several sections. International section is an English school. GCSE/IB.

- GSIS - German Swiss International School.

- CIS - Chinese International

- HKA - Hong Kong Academy

- IMS - International Montessori School

They are all good schools. Teaching+environment vary widely though.

NOTE: ESF application deadline for Fall 2011 (kids born 2006) is TODAY 30 September. Apply online : http://www.esf.edu.hk/node/87

Thx cara. Still, that means apply TODAY for ESF.

ESF is unusual in that it does not accept applications before 1 September the year before school start. CDNIS, Kellett and FIS don't have similar application windows. Don't know about the rest.

Kellett also starts year one the year the child turns five, as does IMS (pretty sure).
