Can anyone recommend a good range of toiletries for babies. I find all the beautifully packaged organic ranges are SO expensive and I don't want to use Johnsons...surely there's an affordable brand which also claims to be kind to my baby's skin? Thanks!

We use Sebamed "Baby Bubble Bath" and "Baby Shampoo" (think that's what it is called) as well as the lotion. Not the cheapest with regards to sticker price but they do last a long time so it evens out.

If you buy at Bonjour they have the biggest sizes which cost less per ml.

Our kids have pretty sensitive skin but never had problems with Sebamed.

Some organic products out there are really expensive, but some are not. I am using Buds for baby everyday line. It is Ecocert certified but charge less than $100 per bottle and I can use it for 2-3 months ! Sometimes when they are doing promotion, the price is even more attractive. I found that a lot of people are actually link organic products as expensive. In fact, if you look into the quality and if you look out for promotion, they are definitely worth the price.

From my point of view, J&J are ok but nowhere near as good as SebaMed when it comes to preventing rashes and dry skin.

once when my daughter has some sort of skin rash, her doctor suggested we stop using J&J since it has too much fragrance and is prone to cause allergies.

i went against her advice and kept on using J&J and my daughter's ok. I think it just really depends on whether ur child has sensitive skin.

in the winter though, i use another lotion for her because the J&J just doesn't provide enough moisture for the dry weather.

There was massive controversy recently about J&J and the amount of chemicals in them. People don't realise that Mustela is just as bad! there was a class action lawsuit I believe in the states. There's a website that scores all cosmetics etc out of ten - 10 being the worst score. http://www.safecosmetics.org/

You can search for most brands here. Check out what is actually in J&J and then you might think twice about using it on your baby!!!

realise going via their main website is a bit difficult so here's the link to see the scores:

If you have used different shower gel or lotions, then you should be able to notice the difference on your skin. Other than the chemcials, I think it is very dry. My skin is normal, but after using J&J shower gel, I would feel itchy and dry. This is my personal feeling. Therefore, I never use it on my baby.
