agree with G-C, don't waste your money on ANY of the local IPTV providers with their pathetic packages...just get a good stable ISP (PCCW/HGC/HKBB are three major players here...) and stream/download your TV from back home. OR get a Slingbox and hook it up in the UK for more control.

depends on your laptop/tv combo...i have a 2010 samsung with wireless/gigabit lan capability...tv plugs into one of the lan ports on my router, becoming part of my home network...done...alternatively, if your laptop and tv both have hdmi ports, connect your tv like a giant monitor...you can also get hdmi/dvi conversion plugs to configure your connection

if you can read chinese (and even if you can't, like me), you should check out PPTV, a Chinese-based peer to peer streaming service...it streams full 1080p HD movies very smoothly, no judder, and has a ton of movies in the database (most 2009 and older unfortunately) as well as most NA tv series (not sure about UK stuff). but again, the interface is completely in chinese, so it takes perseverance and alot of fumbling around to find what you want...

As others have said, don't get a local package. I have seldom met anyone who is satisfied.

Apple TV is also a good option if you like the selection.

Most modern TVs can take a computer input. Just takes an RGB cable (sometimes DVI and sometimes HDMI) from the computer.
