PR status

We've been here for 5 years now and have just learnt that we may be re-locating to Europe.

It would be such a pity as we have 2 more years bef we obtain our PRship and we do know that we will be returning in the very near future back to HK.

Would we have to start all over again or will the 5 years that we've been here count?

Pretty sure it is 7 consecutive years.

When you say "in the very near future" what do you mean? If you are in HK more than 6 months of each year it should be fine.

Sorry, 7 years continuous, other than holidays/business trips. I cannot think of any way out of this as your ID card and passport will show your departure.

So near, yet so far.

What are the benefits of being a PR in HK other than no need to apply for working visa every 2 years?
