Pesticide control advice when you have toddlers

Our tenancy agreement says we have to do pesticide control every 6 months. Though we asked for it we couldn't change this clause....

Up to now I haven't seen a single cockroach but at the end of this month we'll have to do the pesticide control as per the tenancy agreement.

The whole process of people spraying pesticide all over our ceilings and inside the cupboards and the chemicals dripping on our carpets, couches, plates, kids' cots etc is stressing me. The company says the product is 100% safe for the human but how can something be a poison to a living creature while completely safe to another!

I need an advice on how can we reduce the effect of this pesticide control process on our family with 2 toddlers (even if it means I have to cheat the process a bit!)

is this the type of pesticide application you have been told will be done? seems very intrusive, messy and time consuming, especially in a block of apts. are you sure it's not simply fumigating?

if it's fumigating, simply have a adult enter the apt. after the required time, open the windows, turn on all fans, and then go for a nice walk in the park with junior for a few hours....you shouldn't have any worries after that.
