anyone would buy 2nd handed cloth diapers for their babies?

im a mom-to-be and have decided to use cloth diapers for my coming baby. i bought some 2nd handed cloth diapers from other moms claimed they were barely used or even unused. i know that in some countries it's quite normal to sell used cloth diapers but it's seemed to be a very unhygienic thing in hk?!! just wondering if any mom r using or willing to use 2nd handed cloth diapers here???

I would think twice about using 'used' diapers. If they are unused then its fine. Used diapers even if its cleaned properly may have some germs or bacteria in them. How would you know if the earlier wearer did not have some intestinal infection. These infections are very contagious. Consider this, will you use an used panty for your self? And this one is infact been pooped and peed on.

If cloth diapers are not easily available, why not buy some fabric and get it stitched? If you have anyone you know visiting India, you could ask them to get cloth diapers. It is very common there. I think mostly all baby stores in HK sell cloth diapers.

Fuzzi Bunz diapers are great - I've used them for my 16 month old since day 1. They are having a liquidation sale and you can get a pack of 6 diapers for just HK$540 from Baby Central. I highly recommend Fuzzi Bunz and I personally would prefer to buy them brand new. copy this link into your browser to see: http://babycentral.com.hk/baby-diaper-changing-sale.html

Hope this helps.

No way. No how. I even change the toilet when moving to new house. Sorry if this offends some, but that's just me.

If you are that worried just disinfect them, there's nothing wrong with second hand. Why does everything have to be bought brand new, how did we ever make it out of the jungle with all those pesky germs around?

I dont think germs would just hang about in the diapers past a few weeks anyway. It isnt like you are taking them straight off one baby onto the next. Just run them thru a wash with some disinfectant (there is a laundry level one avail) or milton steriliser and they would be fine. I am sure our parents didnt buy a new set of cloth diapers for every child and we all lived thru to adulthood.

beamom,

i had 2 packs of cloth diapers which were brand new and were unused. Each pack had 10 pieces in them. Each of it had beautiful pastel prints. PM me if you would like to have it and we can discuss.
