You've got me there, so I've just had a look at my husband's two AE cards (primary plus his business account one) and my (secondary) card and there's no difference except that his primary card number ends with 000. Maybe all primary cards do??
I'm sure AE's constantly moving the goalposts - I fondly remember having airport lounge access as a secondary card holder and all sorts of other perks, now sadly snatched away from me... :-(
