good compact camera

Dear All,


I am looking at buying a new compact camera. The camera is mainly for taking pictures of our 22 month old daugther - who moves around alot.

The salesperson has recommended Nikkon S6000. If you have any experience with this camera or others, please let me know.

Never had any quibbles with Canon Ixus. There are several variants but I would avoid the touch screen ones. Too fiddly.


Having said that, for the application I would seriously look at a slightly larger camera. The compact ones do have shutter lag, even if the situation is improved since a few years ago. One of the Canon Powershots might be a good fit.

Have a look at Canon's Powershot camera's like S95 or S90 (older model). Alternatively, take a look at their pro-sumer camera's such as Canon G12. I have the old model (Canon G9) which is a great camera.
