If you are a permanent resident, can one consult doctors at Queen Mary hospital or does it have to be an emergency?

The answer is yes and no!

No you can't just rock up and consult them per se (unless it is to the emergency department)

Yes you can be referred to consultation there (but you can't dictate which of the hospitals you are referred to - you could politely request though it might work!). In order to get a referral you need to get into the "government system" which basically means you need to go toa government clinic for a GP consultation, depending on their assessement of you will depend on which further investigations /consultations you will be referred for.


As far as I know I don't think private practise doctors can refer you directly to a government hospital.

Private practice doctors can refer you to the Queen Mary Hospital BUT only to the Doctors/Consultants on a private basis as they now have a new private wing. This may though defeat your objective though.
