How about a week end trip somewhere, maybe a short cruise?

Check out the various packages they offer - Afternoon Tea/Dinner at the Pen - travel via helicopter so you can take in the view of Hong Kong providing it's not too smoggy.

What about art? Choose a piece together (so you know she likes it)

Or something else for the home from Indigo / Tequila Kola etc

Does she work out? How about Lululemon yoga pants?

Most kids that age would like new clothes, I guess, to impress their friends. Your 15yr old daughter would probably appreciate some make-up and/or spa vouchers for a mani/pedi.

What about the Wii? Or the Wii Fit? Both are great fun for all the family. Even the 2.5yr old can try some games (ours like ten-pin bowling, for example!)

Good luck!

Bracelet from Pandora. It's the gift that keeps on giving since you can buy new "charms" for it forever. So every Xmas and birthday hence is saved. ;)

i think you go the completely wrong path by giving them more materialistic things. they have it all already and did not request anything specific, so drop the 'things'.

i would suggest something immaterialistic. how about you give your wifey a massage every week? or do a cooking class together? or a promise to spend one evening romantic dinner together every week? or bring them all to an art jam session?

How about something they will remember for a long time.

2 ideas

1) Helicopter flight over HK. We did this awhile ago now and I still remember the great day.

2) Hire a Junk for Christmas lunch. You organise the food and drinks (not your wife). You could get this catered/supplied or you do all the leg work. Maybe the kids can bring one friend each and have a great day out as a family.

one more idea for the boy: formula1 racing at sideways in central with his friends

and while we are at it: how about a make-up course for the girl?

What about iPads for the kids (if they don't already have them!). Teenaged girls all love clothes, handbags, perfume, makeup, jewellery, etc ... they can never have enough! Although wifey says to get her nothing, I'd bet she'd be secretly disappointed if that's what she got on Xmas morning. You say she's already got plenty of jewellery, but what about buying something like a pendant or ring and having it engraved with something meaningful.

It's really rather sad to think that nowadays people, especially kids, get given so much that there comes to a point when there's nothing left to give ... apart from the simple things in life. Gone are the days when you'd get an orange and a few nuts in a stocking and be overjoyed! No, I'm not really that old, but it makes you think doesn't it?

Maybe you should give them all what they've asked for ... now that would be a surprise! ;-)

dadda...

give each of them a sheet of paper and say to them

i want you to write down at least 5 gifts (can be 5 - 10) on this paper which you would buy for yourself if you had the money (you can give a sum if you want)

and ask them to be realistic.

Once they have done that - take the papers back and say nothing.

Then go shopping for one of the things on the list each has chosen.

That way, they get what they want and you do not get angina from worrying about getting it 'wrong.' Sorted! Happy Christmas.

Maybe your wife is a fan of handbags, I have a wonderful unused KOTUR snake skin (inside brocat) - no more in the market! Nice, when you fill it with an invitation for a romantic dinner, because the bag has the right size for visit the opera, theatre or even a romantic candle light dinner ... in THE VERANDAH?

Take her paint-balling at the place near MegaBox. She will whinge that it will be no fun, but my wife just went on a work function there, and thought it was fantastic. Now, she would probably prefer jewels, helicopter ride, Imac etc etc, but she ain't getting that! the kids would love it too.
